We have known about global warming and its dangers for decades. Nevertheless, global greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. Apparently, we are not succeeding in stopping climate change. How can this failure be explained? Why are societies reacting so hesitantly to this threat?
In his new book, Sociologist Jens Beckert uses numerous uses numerous case studies to show why climate change is a “treacherous” problem that, due to its institutional and cultural structures, will almost inevitably cause capitalist modernity to fail.

'das ad hoc' is a poetry collective founded in 2019 by ten people in their 20s and 30s who write poetry out of a desire to counter the competitive economy in the literary industry with an alternative space. The collective meets regularly to discuss their own poems, write collectively and realize poetic projects together

Meisterwerke der Literatur und was sie uns lehren
Wolfgang M. Schmitt talks about Goethe’s "Die Wahlverwandtschaften" (Elective Affinities) with Ole Liebl.
The nuclear family has not completely dissolved, but it has long been in competition with other relationship and family models. Will friendships become more important when romantic relationships prove to be fleeting? And should we replace the family, which is linked to ideas of lineage and generations, with relatives of our own choosing? Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was already thinking about this in 1809 when he published his novel “Elective Affinities”, in which he explores a radically new concept of family and relationships.
Wolfgang M. Schmitt discusses this politically charged book with author and TikToker Ole Liebl, whose recently published book “Freunde lieben. Die Revolte in unseren engsten Beziehungen” also questions the traditional order of love.
