Reading List # 129
An entirely subjective list of things happening in Berlin

Studio LCB: Lukas Bärfuss - Königin der Nacht
At the beginning of the 1970s, when many authors, especially men, were still reckoning with their fathers' generation, Peter Handke published “Wunschloses Unglück”, a book about the life and death of his mother that went on to become a classic. Now the Büchner Prize winner Lukas Bärfuss has also published a book about his mother, “Königin der Nacht”. She died in poverty, and after her death he finds himself facing the meager remnants of her possessions, just as he once stood before the sparse belongings of his father. “Vaters Kiste” is the title of that essay; together with the novel “Koala”, about his brother's suicide, it forms a trilogy telling a tragic family tale. Together with the author, Marlen Hobrack and Andrea Roedig trace this story. Moderated by Tobias Lehmkuhl.

Book launch: Malwine Stauss & Ebow
She Said is delighted to celebrate the launch of “Vogel und Meer”, a publication featuring watercolors by the artist Malwine Stauss, created in response to a song by the rapper Ebow. Produced in collaboration with Colorama, the book moves fluidly between drawing and language, entering into dialogue with the poetic imagery of Ebow’s work. The evening will include a film screening, a live musical performance by Ebow, and a conversation moderated by Johanna Maierski (Colorama Press).
Tickets are available online or in the bookshop. If a ticket is currently beyond your means, you are warmly invited to email narumi@shesaid.de to register for a solidarity ticket.
